Creating Change

I was a volunteer in my neighborhood and with the Sierra Club working on things I believed in - which led me to become Mayor of Seattle.  All those years working to organize volunteers, influence elected officials, and pursue community and environmental goals added up to a great opportunity to make a difference for people in my city

I am still drawn to causes, and particularly love to work with the next generation of activists. The challenges we face on climate, inequality and racial justice loom ever larger, and they are all interconnected.
